This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to select and use software and hardware diagnostic and testing tools. Meeting the software and hardware needs of an organization can be complex and difficult. Creating a productive IT working environment starts with an analysis of requirements; by asking what is the purpose of the IT set-up? That is, what will the users need to do? Once this is established, you need to explore what tools are available to fulfill these needs. When tools have been selected and a set-up completed, users may need training in new working methods.
